Oregon State University is a member of the RAPID (Rapid Advancement of Process Intensification Deployment) Institutes, a Manufacturing USA Institute funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and administered by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. The six focus areas of RAPID and identified gaps are shown in the graphic below:

RAPID consists of industrial companies, academic institutions, national laboratories and other organizations, all collaborating in developing process intensification processes and equipment that are smaller, lighter-weight and more energy efficient.
